How many times have
you heard complaints about what others are doing or not doing about things that
effect the environment of the workplace or home? How many times have you felt
helplessness wash over you and hoped that a cavalry will soon appear to save the
day?
Not long ago, I engaged in a similar conversation with a friend who at the time was barely getting by on her job. She was capable of brilliant contributions to her company and clearly loved her job but the job did not appear to love her. Her solution was to morph into the chaos. She was hoping to hang on, unnoticed, until the cavalry arrived.
Wait, before you
judge. Think about this in other areas of life. Some people choose to be
passive because they fear they won’t be accepted or valued or that unique
expression might cost them a job or relationship. Fear creates a toxic work or home environment.
Fear is counterproductive. It stifles communication, productivity and
creativity. Isn't this called hell? What
if you, in fact, were the cavalry? What if you were to take a brave leap to
freedom by saying what needs to be said from a place of respect and love? If you were to open communication three things
will happen.
1.
You
will reclaim your power. When we
internalize our power we become angry and sometimes depressed.
2.
You
will create space to create the experiences you wish to have. Anger, blame,
fear and disappointment have an energetic charge that permeates work/home
environments. Think about how you feel when you pick up a strenuous load. It
restricts you. Now think how relieved you
feel when you put the weight down. You will experience the creation of new space.
You will feel lighter and have opportunity to create.
3.
You
will have opportunity create your legacy by expressing your authenticity. Your
legacy does not have to be perfect or grand. It only has to represent your
heart and contribute toward healing. The results will multiply in your favor and
move you closer to your desires as long as you are not dependent upon others to
agree. They may not. If you desire to be liked and accepted at all cost you
block authenticity.
4.
You
will learn that interdependence sets you free to be who you are. You will begin
to climb the latter of your legacy. People will begin to see you for the first
time and learn to value your greatness.
The truth of the matter is that you are creating your legacy with every choice that you make. Why not create deliberately?
